Well, the day started with a little overcast, turned to a lot of sun, and ended with rain. But over all, it was a good day. We topped out at 11 cars at the start.
Played a little in the North Georgia Mountains and then a nice long relaxing cruise to Cherokee where we all sat down to lunch. At that time, we had three who had other plans and had to go different directions.
We had already come through some heavy clouds on several occasions, and later, we began to pick up a few sprinkles, but the driving wasn't bad. Eventually, all but myself and a couple from near Knoxville, Tn dropped away at Asheville. As the last 2 cars continued on, we came to another beautiful overlook at about 7PM. As we were taking in the view, we saw our first bolt of lightning, and then the rain began in earnest.
We continued through the rain and occasional clouds and finally arrived in Blowing Rock. As we pulled into the motel, the desk staff of the Hemlock Inn came out to meet us and delivered our messages that had arrived there well before. MtVilla had been hunting for us. After checking in, and the staff of the Hemlock Inn located a vacancy at another Inn for Darrell and Janice, we all hooked up with Tom Rooney (MtVilla) and had a good sit-down dinner and a lot of Fiero gab at a little English Pub. Enjoyed the talk and company, enjoyed the dinner (burp!) and then Really Enjoyed the bed. Woke up this morning to a cloudless sky in Blowing Rock. Checked out and headed toward Atlanta. Did I say cloudless sky? Well, that was just above us. Couldn't say the same for what was below.
Thanks in order of the cars in the first picture: Melissa, Kevin and Daughter, Robby and Gail, Chris, Nathan and Dad, Jack and Ellen, Dan and Jeanne, Ronnie and Carolyn, John and Sandi, and Mike. Edit: Oh! And then there was the Black Bear. More on that when the film is developed. Thanks Ronnie and Carolyn. Here's a few more.
