Mid-South Fall Leaf Tour - Blue Ridge Parkway 'Tunnel Tour'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Mid-South Fall Foliage Tour this year will be held on October 25th. This year, we plan to take a tour from Cherokee, NC. up to Asheville, NC along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.

This section of the BRP contains some of the most spectacular views along the whole parkway. Including the bulk of the tunnels on the entire BRP. We will travel through 18 of the 26 total on the Parkway.

Here's the game plan:
Start Location and Time:
West side of Harrah's Parking Lot - Cherokee, NC
Depart at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 25, 2008.

The Tour:
Drive the Beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway from the 'lower end' up to US 70 (Tunnel Road) in Asheville. There are numerious overlooks along the way, and we will enjoy several of them.

And of course, the Dinner.

Anyone who knows us, realize we're not going to go without eating.  While some of us will have our dog(s) along for this event, we will plan to have a dinner at Asheville.

Some may not be able to or want to and I certainly understand that, anyway I hope many will want to stay and enjoy the evening.

We plan to have dinner at "The Fiddlin' Pig - Bluegrass and BBQ" If anyone is interested, live music will begin around 7pm.

---- > Fiddlin' Pig Dinner Menu < ---

This should be right at peak leaf color for the area. I would imagine that traffic would be higher than normal - please be careful and enjoy the ride even if we get 'separated'. I will urge that we bring our FRS radios since cell phone reception along the BRP is spotty - at least my Verizon service is

Also, this year another group is interested in tagging along. Let's hope they can keep up...

October is going to be a fun month.  Auburnfest on the 18th, the Blue Ridge Parkway Cruise on the 25th, and a rerun of RFTH 13 on Nov. 1.

So how many people are coming on the Fall Cruise? I know about Charlie, Ray, Conrad, Johnnie, and Don. Anybody else up for a slow ride in the country looking at nature's beauty and enjoying another get together?

There was a mix up on the route. The picture of the route was right but the breakdown was wrong. But I've updated it.

She works at a bank and has to work every other Saturday.  This is her weekend to work.

Talking with Ashby this morning, and he tells me that Don won't be going on the cruise.  Busted transmission.  I haven't heard it officially, yet, but I'm sure Ashby has good information.
